Depressive State #3
In this work I created a moving digital collage using photographs that documented the spaces I occupied when going through my most recent depressive state. Through layering and fragmentation I reshape these places and create a new digital space that abstracts the photographs in order to explore the link between technology and my own isolation. The sounds native to the now unrecognizable locations in the photographs have been collaged and edited to invoke a trance-like state that creates an intimate experience for the viewer that allows them to question their own isolation within the small dark room in which this work is displayed. I am for viewers of my work to reflect on the abstract nature of their own mental states and the ways in which they experience isolation in their own lives.
